How I feel......

Really?

Your birthday shouldn't start out so bad. Flat tire first thing, but your day has to get better.

I turned 50 today.

I don't look too bad for 50, right?

Today is my birthday......

How my day started at 7:15AM......

Started my day out well. Completely flat tire. We had our roof replaced last week. Guess whose tire found a loose nail in the yard? Moi!
My hubby said to take his car. AAA just came to the house to change the tire.... after two hours calling them.
I have two doctor appointments this morning. As well as dropping off our son at college... final exams in his culinary classes.
I got him dropped off after getting caught up in two traffic accident back ups.
Checked in at my first doctor appointment.... neurologist for my migraines.
Going to the tire place when I get home this afternoon.
AND it's my birthday.
It only can get better, right?

Green Tomato Salsa

With all of our green tomatoes we had to harvest before the hard freeze in November, we made green tomato salsa!

We gave jars to my dad, two sisters and brother.

Whoa! It is so good!!!!

The last of our garden....

We were going to have a hard freeze last night AND we did!

It looked like it snowed overnight.

We had to pick all of the vegetables that were still growing on the vines yesterday. We have loads of unripe tomatoes. We are going to make green tomato salsa.

We had a great summer garden this year. We had 7 months of fresh vegetables!!!

We are already planning next year's garden,

A little early morning creativity

What do you do when your head wakes you up because there is a hurricane on the horizon. Hurricane Matthew is on its way. We have had rain since yesterday with the most outer bands were already here in NC.

This morning the rains are heavy at times. Winds are picking up. And it's only 5:30AM. We have a full day worth of rains/high winds to come. At least, it is coming to NC in the day.

I have been up since 3:30AM.......

Let the coloring begin.

Birthday Cupcake, Anyone?

I am the designated birthday cardmaker for our department at work.

I dragged out my TH Blueprint stamps to make this card.

Washi tape adorns the bottom of the card front.

I love the choices of Copics. They really pop on the yellow SU! cardstock base.

I made polka dots on the cupcake tin using Liquid Pearls.

Enjoy!

Gone Batty at Work

When you work in radiology, you can get crafty there, too.

I re-purposed discarded radiographic film that was going to be recycled.

I made these bats at least 6 years ago from radiographic film.

They will keep forever!

Since it is October, it was time to decorate radiology with the bats. My fellow co-workers were happy to see the bats on the walls.

Baby Girl Shower

I made the baby girl shower card and coordinating gift tags for our coworker baby shower. His wife was due in about two weeks.

The baby elephant is a Martha Stewart punch. I like how the elephant ear is cut out and you can pull it out to make it look 3-D.

Supplies used:

SU! cardstock for the cardbase, elephant and gift tag base.
SU! sentiment
Prima Flowers
Offray ribbon
Liquid Pearls for the flower centers
Embossing powder: not going to mention the manufacturer. It is a very poor quality powder. Thank goodness I don't have a large quantity of it
Zigwriter for the black dots
Scor-tape for adhesives

Halloween Goodies Found......

These are my Halloween goodies that I found at Michaels the other day.

The large variety of Halloween/Fall themed ribbon was huge. AND it was only .99 per roll. I selected the rhinestone trim in colors that I can use throughout the year on my cards. The others, of course, are for Fall/Halloween.

In the wreath section, I found these cool wooden jack-o-lanterns and wooden mini bats. Great ideas for cards and scrapbook pages. They were on sale, too. I bought the last 2 bags of bats. They must have been really popular with everyone else, too.

Enjoy!

Our Anniversary

I love the Project Life App. This is one of the greeting cards you can create on the phone app.

Even though our wedding was in 1993. It is nice to still have fun with our wedding photos and create new layouts.

Thank you, Becky Higgins!!

Autumn is near!

I have noticed over the last few weeks that the leaves are started to turn. It is really early for them to do this in NC. Our "fall" is not until October/November. We had a couple of cool nights last week. I hope that didn't trigger autumn to come. We have had some hot days since then.( Back in the high 90's )

It rained yesterday. The work parking lot was covered in gold leaves. This leaf was near my car.

I am ready for Autumn.

Holly Hobbie..

I loved loved Holly Hobbie when I was growing up. I had T-shirts that I wore out until there were many holes in them. My metal lunchbox in elementary school was Holly Hobbie, too.

Am I aging myself? Who's with me on this?

Tea Bag Holder Tutorial

I am always looking for easy to make tutorials.

I received this link in my email box today for making a tea bag holder. This would be great for a get well card or welcoming someone to the neighborhood.

Here is the link:

Yes, I know how to use a sewing machine.....

We were going to throw out our old kitchen towels ( since we bought replacement ones ).

I decided to repurpose them into hot mats.

We did this with one of our old towels in the past. It came in so handy when you needed a large area to lay a hot baking sheet or larger skillet on the counter.

I folded the towels in half, sewing the edges together.

Viola! New hot mats you can throw in the laundry if they get dirty, stained or wet, saving the hot mitts for getting pans and pots off the stove and oven,
